Small cuts on your knuckles can be annoying, but properly cleaning the injury and applying a knuckle bandage can help with your recovery. Prior to the bandage application, it is important to wash the affected area and coat the injury with a layer of antibiotic ointment. Keeping the wound clean with fresh bandages can speed up your bodies ability to heal. When you have cut or scraped your knuckle, applying a knuckle bandage correctly will keep the wound clean and promote healing.
Our instructional video outlines the proper knuckle bandage application techniques for bandaging knuckles and joints.
Flexible fabric knuckle bandages are an easy way to bandage small cuts and scrapes on the knuckle area because they are flexible and move with you rather than restricting movement. Select the knuckle bandage that is right for you. We carry Coverlet hospital grade bandages, White Cross, Medi-First first aid kit bandages and the Johnson and Johnson Band Aid brand which has an assortment of both fingertip and knuckle bandages. Because of their unique “h” shape, Knuckle bandages are perfect for knuckles and other small joints that flex and bend.
Here is how to apply a knuckle bandage:
Before applying any bandage, be sure to disinfect the wound site.
When ready to apply the knuckle bandage, open the sterile bandage wrapper.
Next, remove one side of the protective backing and lay the gauze portion of the bandage onto the wound.
Stick the exposed adhesive ends onto the underside of the joint.
Then remove the protective backing from the remaining underside of the bandage.
Last, stick the exposed adhesive ends onto the underside of the joint and ensure all adhesive is sticking to the skin.
